Moana 2 in 4DX: Worth Every Splashed Penny

When Disney announced Moana 2, I was first in line to relive the magic. Today, I took my daughter to see it in 4DX, and let me tell you: I’m not the same person I was this morning. My hair is frizzier, my popcorn was airborne, and I was emotionally wrecked—in the best way possible.

First, let’s address the 4DX experience. This isn’t just a movie; it’s an extreme sport. The rolling seas? You feel them. Running and jumping? You’re basically Moana’s wingman. And yes, I got sprayed with water—not the “misting spa” kind but the “you’re in the middle of the Pacific” kind. My daughter loved every second. I, on the other hand, may have screamed louder than the kids during the jump scares. Worth. Every. Cent.

As for the movie, Moana 2 picks up years after the first film (about as many years as it’s been since the original came out). Our girl has grown up, and let me tell you—watching her evolution hit me right in the mom feels. She’s still the fearless, sea-loving Moana we adore, but now she’s grappling with what it means to be a leader, a daughter, and a woman in a world that seems to throw waves at her faster than you can say “Te Fiti.” Cue my ugly crying.

Without spoilers, the plot ties beautifully back to the first movie, blending adventure, humor, and heartfelt moments that will leave you sobbing in your chair—while simultaneously laughing as you’re tossed around in your seat like a coconut in a storm. It’s emotional whiplash, and I’m here for it.

Moms, trust me on this: Go see it. Bring tissues, a waterproof jacket, and your kid (optional, but highly recommended). You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and you’ll be so ridiculously proud of this animated character who somehow feels like family.

P.S. Disney, if you’re reading this, stop making me cry in public. Or don’t. I’ll still show up.
